TEHRAN, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- At least 13 people were killed and 13 others injured on Monday night as a bus overturned on an intercity road in Iran's central Isfahan province, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
The incident occurred on the freeway from the provincial capital Isfahan to Natanz city and was reported at 22:11 local time (1841 GMT), Fars quoted Alireza Zamanpour, head of the province's emergency medical services organization, as saying.
Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and all the injured were transferred to nearby medical centers, Zamanpour said.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Mansour Shishehforoush, director general of Isfahan's crisis management department, said the bus had veered off course, crossed into the opposite lane and overturned.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, according to the province's traffic police. ■
