MEXICO CITY, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey has parted ways with Pumas after an injury-riddled spell with the Mexican club.

The 34-year-old played six matches and scored one goal after joining the Mexico City side on a free transfer in July.

"I would like to thank the Mexican people for their kindness and generosity, for making me and my family feel so welcome in Mexico City," the former Arsenal and Juventus player said on social media.

"I also want to give a huge thank you to the coach, the coaching staff and, especially, the medical staff for helping me through a difficult period with injuries."

In addition to physical problems, Ramsey's time in Mexico was marked by the disappearance of his dog in October, which he said had "haunted" his family.

Ramsey, who had been contracted to Pumas until June next year, made clear that his desire had been to remain at the club.

"I was ready and fit for the remaining matches and very eager to give my best for Pumas. Unfortunately, my contract was terminated, which came as a surprise and was obviously a disappointment," he wrote.

"Therefore, I had no option but to return home to Wales. Thank you again for all the support during the time we spent in Mexico. It is a beautiful place and we will definitely visit again soon," he concluded.
