HANOI, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total import-export revenue is projected to reach a record 920 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, placing the country among the world's major trading nations, the Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
The figure rises from 786.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2024 and represents nearly a 58.7-fold increase compared with 29 years ago, the report said, citing the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Tran Thanh Hai, deputy director of the ministry's Agency of Foreign Trade, said at a conference Tuesday that Vietnam has consolidated its position on the global trade map by maintaining a decade-long trade surplus, estimated at about 22 billion U.S. dollars in 2025.
Hai also warned that export growth remains constrained by structural challenges like heavy reliance on foreign-invested firms, low domestic added value, global uncertainty as well as mounting pressure from stricter sustainability standards. ■
