WELLINGTON, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand's food and fiber exports are projected to hit a record 62 billion NZ dollars (about 35.89 billion U.S. dollars) in the year to June 2026, driven by strong global demand for dairy, meat, fruit, and forestry products, a government report said Tuesday.

The forecast, from the latest Situation and Outlook for Primary Industries report, marks a 3 percent rise from this year's record 60.4 billion NZ dollars and a 16 percent higher than two years before.

New Zealand's food and fiber exports are expected to climb to more than 63 billion NZ dollars in the year to June 30, 2027, it said.

"It's an outstanding result, especially considering a tough year with challenging global conditions and extreme weather impacting producers," said Agriculture and Forestry Minister Todd McClay.

Food and fiber products now account for 83 percent of New Zealand's goods exports, McClay said.
