KABUL, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and 16 others injured in two separate traffic accidents in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, local police said on Monday.
A head-on collision between two vehicles on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in eastern Ghazni province resulted in two fatalities and left two women injured. In the northern Jawzjan province, separate traffic incidents claimed one life and injured 14 others.
Authorities have attributed the accidents mainly to reckless driving, highlighting the dangers posed by overcrowded and poorly maintained roads in the country.
The latest incidents follow a separate accident on Sunday in western Herat province, which left two people dead and two others injured. ■
