BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Veteran Boca Juniors midfielder Ander Herrera could retire from football after an injury-wracked 2025, according to media reports in Argentina.
The 36-year-old made just 17 appearances across all competitions for Boca this year after his January move from Athletic Bilbao.
His contract is due to expire in December next year but includes a unilateral termination clause allowing either party to end it this month.
TyC Sports reported that constant physical problems had prompted Herrera to consider calling time on a professional career that began at Zaragoza in 2009.
Boca Juniors failed to win a trophy in 2025 but qualified for next year's Copa Libertadores group stage for the first time since 2023. ■
