RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians and Vasco da Gama will meet in the Copa do Brasil final after winning their respective semifinals in penalty shootouts on Sunday.

At Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium, Uruguayan defender Jose Luis Rodriguez converted the decisive spot-kick as Vasco prevailed 4-3 in its shootout against local rival Fluminense.

Earlier, Paulo Henrique netted an own goal to gift Fluminense a 1-0 lead and leave the teams level on aggregate.

With no extra-time, the match went straight to penalties after 90 minutes. Rayan, Victor Luis and Philippe Coutinho also converted in the shootout as Vasco reached the final for the first time since 2011.

In Sao Paulo, Hugo Souza saved two penalties as Corinthians prevailed 5-4 against Cruzeiro.

Ecuadorian teenager Keny Arroyo scored either side of halftime to give Cruzeiro the lead on aggregate but Matheus Bidu equalized with a 55th-minute header.

In the shootout, Souza denied Gabriel Barbosa and Wallace before Breno Bidon converted his team's sixth attempt to send the Sao Paulo side into its eighth Copa do Brasil decider.

The first leg of the final will be played at Corinthians Arena on Wednesday with the return leg scheduled for Sao Januario Stadium next Sunday.

Vasco is vying for its second Copa do Brasil title while Corinthians is aiming to win the competition for a fourth time.
