HANOI, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were buried in a landslide at a mountain pass on Sunday afternoon in Vietnam's northern province of Phu Tho, local daily VnExpress reported.

According to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority, the victims include two road workers who were on duty painting road markings and a motorcyclist passing through the area.

The accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. when a large volume of soil and rocks suddenly slid down from a slope above a section of National Highway 6 at Thung Khe pass.

At the time, multiple vehicles, including trucks, buses and motorcycles, were traveling through the area.

The area has seen light rainfall over the past two days, the report said.

The Thung Khe pass is known for its rugged terrain and sharp curves, posing a risk of landslides, particularly during adverse weather conditions, according to VnExpress.
