HANOI, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam on Thursday approved an investment package worth 423 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 16.05 billion U.S. dollars) for a national target program on rural area development, sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas from 2026 to 2030, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The program aims to build modern and climate-resilient rural areas, promote inclusive and sustainable poverty reduction, and improve livelihoods in ethnic minority regions, according to the report.
By 2030, Vietnam aims to raise rural per capita income up to 3 times higher than in 2020, while reducing the multidimensional poverty rate by 1 to 1.5 percent annually.
Looking ahead to 2035, the country expects rural per capita income to increase at least 1.6 times compared to 2030 under the long-term national program extending through 2035, the report said. ■
