YANGON, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) has approved 14 new investment projects, state media reported on Tuesday.

At its meeting on Monday in Nay Pyi Taw, the MIC approved five new foreign investments and nine new local investment projects in the industry, hotel, tourism and service sectors, a report from The Global New Light of Myanmar said.

The total investment is nearly 79 million U.S. dollars, and the projects are expected to create 4,119 jobs, it said.

The approved businesses include EV motorcycle and automobile assembly, education services, food processing, and garment manufacturing.

As of the end of November 2025, Singapore, China, and Thailand remain the top foreign investors in Myanmar, it said.

Of the 12 investment sectors, the electricity sector leads with 28.28 percent of total investment, followed by the oil and natural gas sector at 24.65 percent, and manufacturing at 14.6 percent.

The MIC oversees and approves investment project proposals from local and foreign investors, and provides services to the existing investors under the Myanmar Investment Law, it said.
