BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tiago Palacios scored in the second half as Estudiantes advanced to the final of Argentina's Primera Division Clausura tournament with a 1-0 win at Gimnasia on Monday.
Palacios broke the deadlock just after the hour in the semifinal when he tapped in from close range after Edwuin Cetre's cross from the left byline.
Gimnasia, which earned the right to host the match due to its superior regular-season record, controlled most of the possession but struggled for cohesion in attack.
"We wanted to make it to the final and I think we did it in style," Palacios said. "It's a special feeling and a sense of relief for everyone."
The result means Estudiantes will meet Racing at Santiago del Estero's Unico Stadium in Saturday's final.
Racing advanced by overcoming Boca Juniors 1-0 in the other semifinal on Sunday. ■
