YANGON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The 2025 Myanmar International Textile and Machinery Fair opened in Yangon on Friday, bringing together exhibitors and industry leaders from China, Myanmar, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

Now in its third edition, the annual event has become one of the most influential platforms for promoting Myanmar's textile and garment sector.

Organized by the Chinese Textile & Garment Association in Myanmar in collaboration with the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA), the three-day fair aims to foster long-term business cooperation, strengthen economic ties between Myanmar, China and ASEAN, and ensure sustainable development of Myanmar's garment sector.

This year's event features more than 100 exhibitors, including 10 Chinese brands, showcasing textile machinery, fabrics, accessories, and made-in-Myanmar products.

Visitors can engage directly with exhibitors at commercial booths, participate in B2B matching sessions, and observe colorful and sophisticated textile products, according to the MGMA.

International partners can explore the performance and craftsmanship of local textile and garment factories, it said.

Exhibitors said that the fair has become an essential venue to meet customers and introduce new products.

Liu Guodong, managing director of KAMA Industry Co., Ltd., said many garment businesses rely heavily on reliable electricity, which prompted his company to showcase generators and solar-powered solutions.

"There is unstable electricity in Myanmar, so we brought alternative power products," he said.

Phoo Pwint Aung, an executive from New Harmony Company, said the fair provides strong visibility for textile and printing businesses. "We display fabrics, machines, raw materials, spare parts, and tools. We have been importing machines and materials from China and Japan since 2013. This event allows visitors to see everything in one place."

For textile retailer Seven Color Textile Co., Ltd., this year marks their first time displaying fabrics. Marketing Manager Thwe Thwe Aye said the fair helps them reach new customers.

"We import fabrics from China, South Korea, India and Indonesia. Through the event, more people have learned about our products," she said.

Visitors included entrepreneurs from both urban and rural areas. Aung Kaung from Taunggyi township in Shan state said, "I came to study new products for my signboard business and found Chinese products affordable and reliable. I can also observe live demonstrations of advanced technologies here."

Phyo Phyo from Hlaingtharyar township in Yangon region said the fair gave her valuable connections for import and export opportunities as she prepares to launch her own local brand.

"Through this event, we aim to provide Myanmar's textile and garment manufacturers with access to new technologies and opportunities to connect with international companies. We believe this exhibition serves as an important step in helping Myanmar's textile industry reach global standards," said MGMA Chairman U Myint Soe.

First launched in 2023, the annual exhibition continues to grow in scale and importance, attracting more than 1,500 visitors last year, it added.
