KABUL, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has distributed over 19 million afghanis (nearly 300,000 U.S. dollars) in cash assistance to families that recently returned to eastern Afghanistan's Logar province, the local media outlet Tolonews said on Thursday.
According to the report, a total of 1,300 returning families from neighboring Pakistan and Iran received financial aid in this province. Each family was provided with 15,000 afghanis in the districts of Mohammad Agha, Khushi and Baraki Barak.
As thousands of Afghan families have returned home from neighboring countries, many are in urgent need of basic support. In response, the ARCS has launched several humanitarian initiatives across different provinces, including Logar, to help ease their resettlement challenges. ■
