JERUSALEM, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The number of tourists visiting Israel in November nearly doubled compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the country's Central Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.
The figures showed that 122,500 tourists visited Israel last month, compared to 61,500 in November 2024.
The increase is largely due to the implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in October. In contrast, most of November last year was dominated by Israel's conflict with Hezbollah, which continued until the ceasefire in Lebanon took effect on the 27th, alongside its fighting in Gaza.
In the first 11 months of this year, the number of tourists visiting Israel reached 1.18 million, a 33.2 percent increase year-on-year.
However, the figure is lower than the 2.96 million tourists who visited Israel during the same period in 2023. ■
