JERUSALEM, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Indian grandmasters Arjun Erigaisi and Viswanathan Anand narrowed the points gap to leader Peter Svidler at the Jerusalem Masters rapid chess tournament on Monday.

Erigaisi, ranked fifth in the world in classical chess, and five-time world chess champion Anand each scored two wins and two draws in the four rounds of the day, and currently stand on five points from seven rounds, ranking second and third respectively.

Russia's Svidler leads the competition with 5.5 points, after beating Vladimir Fedoseev of Slovenia and drawing three times on Monday.

Svidler's compatriot Ian Nepomniachtchi, the world's second-ranked rapid chess player, sits fourth with 4.5 points.

The competition features 12 grandmasters and is played in a round-robin format, with the top four advancing to the semifinals.
