MOSCOW, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- As part of a new phase in testing the regulations governing the entry and exit of foreign nationals, Russia will begin on Dec. 1 collecting biometric personal data at technically feasible border crossings, local media reported Monday.

The requirements will not apply to citizens of Belarus, children under six, heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices, or holders of diplomatic and service passports and visas, according to Resolution No. 1510 adopted on Nov. 7, 2024.

The pilot program will run until June 30, 2026, said the document.

The experiment on collecting biometric data from foreigners began a year ago. Initially, it was only conducted at a few locations, including four airports in Moscow and the Mashtakovo border crossing point in the Orenburg region.
