LONDON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Georgia Stanway struck a hat-trick as England crushed China 8-0 in a women's football friendly on Saturday.
Sarina Wiegman's team delivered one of their most fluent attacking performances of the year. Winger Beth Mead struck twice in quick succession to establish early control, and Lauren Hemp added a third in the 16th minute. Stanway then took center stage with three goals of her own, including one from the penalty spot in the 38th minute and another shortly after the restart.
Ella Toone and Alessia Russo rounded off the scoring for England.
Wiegman singled out Stanway for praise after the game, saying, "She was really sharp and she really wanted to show. She was very calm and played good."
"They [China] gave us too much time of the ball and then you see when we get that time we are really good. The connections are very good and there were some good goals in there," she added. ■
