ZAGREB, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- A large fire broke out overnight in the attic of a building in Rijeka, the third-largest city in Croatia, leaving the body of an unidentified person at the scene, local media reported Saturday.
The local police confirmed the discovery and said an autopsy will be conducted once firefighters fully extinguish the blaze, Croatian Radiotelevision reported. Several residents sought medical attention for smoke inhalation.
Although the fire has been brought under control, smoke still billows from the building, and crews are continuing to work on the scene, it reported.
The scene is being secured by the police, and they will conduct an on-site investigation when conditions allow, it noted. ■
