YANGON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized over one ton of methamphetamine, or Ice, in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, the daily The Mirror reported on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Loilem town on Nov. 16, seizing 1.117 tons of Ice and arresting two suspects, the report said.
Two other suspects, who arranged the transportation of the drugs from Mongyai township in Shan state to Yangon, remain at large, it said.
The estimated value of the seized drugs is over 15 billion kyats (about 7.14 million U.S. dollars), it added.
The arrested suspects have been charged under the country's laws, and further investigations are ongoing, it added. ■
