KABUL, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched the construction of 42 water supply networks in eastern Paktika province, the official Bakhtar news agency reported on Sunday.
The networks, valued at more than 3.5 million U.S. dollars, will be implemented across multiple districts of the province and are expected to be completed within one year. Once operational, the new water networks will provide safe drinking water to hundreds of families in Paktika and nearby areas.
To mitigate health risks associated with contaminated water, the Afghan government has been investing in the construction of water supply networks, dams and irrigation canals nationwide. ■
