KIGALI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Kigali Financial and Business Square (KFBS) project in Rwanda's capital has reached a major milestone with the topping out of its shell and core structure, signaling significant progress in one of Kigali's premier commercial developments.

The ceremony at the project site on Thursday celebrated the completion of the main structural works and set the stage for the next phases, including facade installation, mechanical systems, and interior finishing.

Evans Njuguna, director of EH Venture Capital Rwanda Limited, the project's client and developer, described the achievement as a testament to collective effort.

"Today, we are only halfway through our journey. We pause to express our gratitude, but our focus remains on the bigger picture. We still have another 50 percent to go, with the goal of having the entire office fully operational by the end of next year and the hotel up and running by the end of 2027. That is our vision," Njuguna said.

He also praised the Chinese constructor for transforming the project from concept to reality, noting the challenge of delivering such a landmark development.

Built by China Railway Jianchang Engineering Company (CRJE) (East Africa) Limited, the KFBS is set to become a premier hub for hospitality and high-end office spaces in Kigali's central business district.

Xu Jing, country manager of CRJE (East Africa) Limited, said the topping out marked the successful completion of main structural works and the transition into facade, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishing works.

"Looking ahead, we will continue to uphold high standards and work closely with all partners to ensure the successful completion and handover of the project as scheduled," he said, adding that construction has also created valuable employment opportunities for the local community.

The Kigali Financial and Business Square will feature twin towers offering first-class office spaces alongside a hotel tower aimed at boosting Kigali's hospitality and meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions sector.
