Gov't data shows India's GDP grows 8.2 pct in July-September quarter

NEW DELHI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- India's economic growth rose to 8.2 percent during the July-September period, or the second quarter of FY 2025-26, government data released on Friday showed.

"Real GDP has been estimated to grow by 8.2 percent in Q2 of FY 2025-26 against the growth rate of 5.6 percent during Q2 of FY 2024-25," ministry of statistics and program implementation said. "Nominal GDP has witnessed a growth rate of 8.7 percent in Q2 of FY 2025-26."

According to the ministry, the secondary (8.1 percent) and tertiary sector (9.2 percent) has boosted the real GDP growth rate in the quarter to rise above 8.0 percent.

"Manufacturing (9.1 percent) and construction (7.2 percent) in the secondary sector has registered above 7.0 percent growth rate at constant prices in this quarter," the ministry said. "Financial, real estate and professional services (10.2 percent) in the tertiary Sector has sustained a substantial growth rate at constant prices in Q2 of FY 2025-26."

Meanwhile, real GDP has registered an 8.0 percent growth rate in April-September of 2025, as compared to the growth rate of 6.1 percent the same period last FY 2024-25, the data showed.
