SINGAPORE, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's labor force participation rate fell slightly in 2025, reflecting the country's aging population, but remains among the highest in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Ministry of Manpower said Friday in its labor force advance release.
The participation rate for residents aged 15 and over dropped for the fourth consecutive year, from 70.5 percent in 2021 to 68.2 percent in 2024, and further to 67.9 percent in 2025. However, participation across most age groups remained broadly stable or higher than last year.
Singapore's overall rate continues to rank high among OECD countries, most of which are high-income nations similar to Singapore, the ministry added.
Among residents aged 25 to 64, female participation has improved over the decade, rising from 74.1 percent in 2015 to 80.5 percent in 2025, while male participation remained high at 91.8 percent in 2025.
The advance release data cover the resident population as of June each year, comprising Singapore citizens and permanent residents. The ministry said the final 2025 report will be published in January 2026. ■
