TOKYO, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Japan's weather agency warned Thursday that atmospheric conditions will become very unstable over wide areas of western to northern Japan through Friday due to a front and a cold air mass.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said a front stretching from a low-pressure system will pass across the Japanese archipelago from Thursday to Friday and expected colder-than-usual air to flow in.

Highly unstable atmospheric conditions are forecast from Thursday through Friday noon for western Japan and from Thursday night through Friday for eastern and northern Japan, the JMA said.

Weather officials urged caution for lightning strikes, gusty winds like tornadoes, sudden rainfall and hail.

Gusty winds like tornadoes may hit where cumulonimbus clouds develop, they said, calling on people to take shelter in sturdy buildings if there are signs that cumulonimbus clouds are approaching.
