NEW DELHI, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Forty-one Naxals, including 12 women cadres, surrendered to government forces Wednesday in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.
The Naxals laid down arms in Bijapur district, about 443 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.
Last week, 37 Naxals, including three commanders, surrendered before police in the adjacent state of Telangana.
India's federal government has resolved to eradicate Naxalism before March 31, 2026.
Currently, Naxals are active across central and eastern parts of India.
New Delhi has deployed paramilitary forces to take on Naxals in their strongholds.
The insurgency has reportedly claimed hundreds of lives and rendered thousands of poor inhabitants homeless. ■
