PHNOM PENH, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported garments, textiles, shoes, and travel goods totally worth 13.6 billion U.S. dollars in the first 10 months of 2025, a year-on-year rise of 20 percent, said an official report on Friday.

Garments worth 9.62 billion dollars were exported during the January-October period this year, a year-on-year increase of 20.3 percent, said the report compiled by the Ministry of Commerce, adding that textiles worth 564 million dollars were shipped to international markets, up 38.7 percent.

Also, 1.73 billion dollars worth of footwear was exported, up 30 percent, while travel goods and bags equivalent to 1.7 billion dollars were sold to international markets, up 5.8 percent, the report added.

The garment, textile, footwear, and travel goods industry is the largest foreign exchange earner for the Southeast Asian country.

The sector currently consists of more than 1,500 factories and branches, employing over 900,000 workers, mostly women, according to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

Thong Mengdavid, a lecturer at the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, said the robust growth signaled Cambodia's effective market diversification beyond its traditional partners.

"This upward trend is likely to continue into 2026, supported by external demand and new investment inflows from China and South Korea and Japan," he told Xinhua.
