COLOMBO, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka will allow students with disabilities who pass the Advanced Level examination, Sri Lanka's university entrance examination, to enroll in any faculty across all universities in the country, a deputy minister said on Friday.

Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Madhura Senevirathna said the Parliamentary Advisory Subcommittee on Higher Education approved the decision, marking a major shift in higher-education accessibility.

He said students with disabilities sitting for this year's university entrance exam will now be eligible to enter all academic disciplines. They were previously restricted to just four faculties.

Senevirathna added that the government will also introduce several policies aimed at eliminating all forms of discrimination against people with disabilities in Sri Lanka.
