DOHA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha reported its busiest quarter on record from July to September, handling over 14.3 million passengers, up 4.3 percent year on year, the airport said Monday.
August marked the airport's busiest month ever, with more than 5 million passengers, it added.
The growth was driven by a 7-percent rise in point-to-point travelers to 3.4 million, increased aircraft movements, and strong seat occupancy across airlines operating at the airport, it said.
"Hamad International Airport is scaling with purpose to meet rising passenger demand, driven by Qatar's growing appeal as a destination and the strength of its aviation and tourism sector," said Hamad Al Khater, HIA's chief operating officer.
The HIA is Qatar's main gateway and one of the world's leading aviation hubs. ■
