COLOMBO, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and around 40 others injured when a private bus overturned in Thalawa, Sri Lanka's North Central Province, on Monday, local media Ada Derana reported, citing the police.
According to the police, students sitting for the nationwide G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination were among passengers on the bus, which veered off the road and toppled into a 5-foot-deep ditch. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.
Authorities said further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident. ■
