KABUL, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has disbursed more than 136 million U.S. dollars in assistance to widows, orphans, and persons with disabilities over the past five months, the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs announced on Saturday.
According to Ministry Spokesman Mufti Faisal, over 9 billion afghanis (more than 136 million U.S. dollars) were distributed in direct financial aid to widows, orphans, and individuals with disabilities across the country during the cited period.
In addition, food and non-food assistance valued at around 10 million U.S. dollars was provided to impoverished families through cooperation with humanitarian organizations, the spokesman added.
