BANGKOK, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's economy picked up in September on a monthly basis, driven by rising exports, a rebound in manufacturing, and higher foreign tourism receipts, the central bank said on Friday.

Exports, a key driver of the Southeast Asian country's economic growth, surged 19.2 percent year-on-year in September, fueled by growth in electronic and automotive products, said the central bank's senior director, Pranee Sutthasri.

Looking forward, the economy shows signs of recovery, led by a gradual increase in industrial production, which is expected to benefit related service sectors, she said.

Export growth, particularly in electronics, and government economic stimulus measures aimed at boosting tourism and domestic demand would also support the rebound, the official noted.
