VIENNA, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Austria's inflation rate is estimated to remain at 4 percent in October, unchanged from September, according to a flash estimate by Statistics Austria on Friday.
Prices in the category of food, tobacco, and alcohol rose by 3.9 percent year on year in October, following a 3.8-percent increase in September, Statistics Austria said.
"The largest increase was in energy prices, which rose even more dynamically at 9.7 percent than in September with 8.1 percent, as prices increased for electricity and gas year on year," said Manuela Lenk, director general of statistics at Statistics Austria.
Core inflation, covering industrial goods and services, eased slightly to 3.4 percent in October from 3.5 percent a month earlier, the data showed. ■
