DPRK test-fires sea-to-surface strategic cruise missiles: KCNA
The Missile Administration of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday test-fired sea-to-surface strategic cruise missiles in the western waters off the Korean Peninsula, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Wednesday.
The cruise missiles, improved for the launch from the ship, were fired vertically and flew for over 7,800 seconds along the preset route above the western waters to destroy the target, the KCNA report said.

25 U.S. states sue Trump administration for blocking food aid funding

At least 64 killed in huge police operation in Rio de Janeiro favelas
At least 64 people were killed and 81 were arrested Tuesday in a large security operation against the Comando Vermelho criminal group in the Complexo do Alemao and Penha favelas in Rio de Janeiro, official sources said.
The Rio de Janeiro state government called the action the deadliest operation in Rio's history. More than 2,500 civil and military police officers took part in the operation, targeting 26 communities across the two complexes.
7 killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza, Hamas postpones hostage body handover
Seven Palestinians, including children and an infant, were killed and four others injured on Tuesday evening in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip despite a declared ceasefire, the Palestinian Civil Defense said.
In a press statement, Hamas condemned the Israeli bombardment across the Gaza Strip as "a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement," calling on mediators to "act immediately to pressure the Israeli occupation to halt its escalation against civilians in the Gaza Strip and to abide by all provisions of the agreement."
Putin, DPRK FM discuss bilateral ties: Kremlin
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Choe Son Hui discussed bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
"Actually, all the issues related to plans about the further development and enhancement of our friendship, our partnership, our alliance have been discussed," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the meeting held on Monday.
Deaths from bear attacks in Japan hit record 10
A record high of 10 deaths caused by bear attacks has been reported in Japan so far in fiscal 2025, amid a recent surge in bear-related incidents across the country, according to the Environment Ministry.
More than 100 people have been killed or injured in bear attacks so far in the current fiscal year, which started in April, with the bear-related death toll marking the highest since records began in fiscal 2006, the ministry said.
