Zhu Zhiyou treats a patient at a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Shuangliu District of Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, Oct. 24, 2025. In a clinic of the traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Hongya County, 80-year-old Zhu Zhiyou remains dedicated to clinical practice. As an experienced expert in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), he has, in over five decades of medical practice, collected and produced more than 10,000 TCM specimens and trained over 100 TCM practitioners.

In his opinion, to learn TCM, one must understand Chinese herbal medicines, and the most direct way of learning is to collect and make specimens of these medicines.

He hopes that more people would know about the source and efficacy of medicines and the TCM could be passed down from generation to generation. (Xinhua/Liu Kun)
