TASHKENT, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan saw a 49.3 percent year-on-year increase in foreign tourist arrivals in the first nine months of the year, the National Statistics Committee has said.
"According to the National Statistics Committee, in January-September 2025, about 8.6 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes," it said on Monday.
"This indicator increased by almost 2.8 million people or 49.3 percent compared to the corresponding period last year," the committee noted.
Among the origin countries of tourists, Kyrgyzstan ranked first with 2.4 million people, followed by Kazakhstan with 2 million people and Tajikistan with 1.9 million people.
Uzbekistan has been working to tap its tourism potential and has developed new historical routes to attract both domestic and foreign visitors, the country's Tourism Committee has said. ■
