CAIRO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed developments in Gaza and Sudan in separate calls on Monday with his French, Greek, Saudi, and Jordanian counterparts, the foreign ministry said.

Abdelatty spoke with France's Jean-Noel Barrot, Greece's George Gerapetritis, Saudi Arabia's Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Jordan's Ayman Safadi about efforts to advance de-escalation in the Palestinian territories, the ministry said in a statement.

He underscored the need to build on the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh summit held earlier this month and the recent ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, urging progress toward its second phase -- recovery and reconstruction.

Abdelatty also reviewed preparations for an international conference on Gaza's recovery and reconstruction, which Egypt will host in November, describing it as a "pivotal step" to align international efforts under a "comprehensive Arab-Islamic plan."

The ministers also discussed the situation in Sudan, particularly in the city of El Fasher, which was captured by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sunday after months of siege.

Volker Turk, the UN human rights chief, warned earlier on Monday that El Fasher was in an "extremely precarious situation," with a growing risk of "ethnically motivated violations and atrocities" after the RSF control.

The ministers stressed the need for a comprehensive ceasefire and a political solution based on the recent Sudan Quartet meeting in Washington, and called for coordinated positions and intensified humanitarian efforts in affected areas, the Egyptian statement said.
