BISHKEK, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed on Wednesday in a fire in a residential building in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh, the Emergency Ministry's press service reported.
The fire broke out at approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday local time (2130 GMT Tuesday) in the basement of the building and quickly spread to the roof, it said.
Rescuers at the scene found the bodies of the deceased in a charred state. Six people were killed in the fire -- a 34-year-old woman and five children.
The ministry said the fire covered about 280 square meters, and preliminary reports suggested it was caused by an electric heater in the home. ■
