ULAN BATOR, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted the northern Mongolian province of Khuvsgul at 5:14 p.m. local time on Tuesday, the country's Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics said.
The epicenter of the quake, 18 km to the southeast of Tsetserleg soum (administrative subdivision) of Khuvsgul province in Mongolia, was initially determined to be at 49.40 degrees north latitude and 97.89 degrees east longitude, the institute said in a statement.
The agency added that the quake was strongly felt across Khuvsgul and other areas, including Zavkhan province in Western Mongolia, but no damage has been reported. ■
