SARAJEVO, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Third International Conference on Logistics concluded Friday in Sarajevo, with participants urging faster digital transformation and stronger regional cooperation to enhance Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) competitiveness.

The two-day event, organized by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH (FTC BiH), brought together around 200 experts, freight forwarders, and transport professionals to discuss logistics trends, warehouse optimization, cross-border transport, and green and sustainable logistics.

Ahmet Egrlic, president of the FTC BiH, said logistics is a vital driver of the country's economic growth. He stressed that the sector must embrace digitalization to stay competitive in the European Union (EU) market, which accounts for nearly 70 percent of BiH's foreign trade.

Radu Dinescu, president of the International Road Transport Union, and Turgut Erkeskin, member of the presidency of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, highlighted the importance of regional cooperation, infrastructure investment, and Bosnia's strategic position in global logistics networks.

In recent months, truck drivers in BiH have staged several protests over long border waiting times and complex customs procedures with EU member states. Conference participants called on authorities to simplify border processes and introduce "green lanes" to accelerate the cross-border movement of goods.
