JERUSALEM, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Israel said on Wednesday that Hamas handed over four bodies held in Gaza, but forensic examination revealed that one of them does not belong to a hostage.
"Following the completion of examinations at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the fourth body handed over to Israel by Hamas does not match any of the hostages," the Israeli military said in a statement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that Hamas fulfill the requirements under the ceasefire deal.
On Monday, Hamas returned the bodies of four hostages along with 20 surviving captives as part of a ceasefire deal under which Israel released about 2,000 Palestinian detainees and prisoners. ■
