ISLAMABAD, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed in a road accident on Wednesday morning in the Bhakkar district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, said the rescue department.
According to Rescue 1122, a speeding truck rammed into a car on Darya Khan Road in the district, leaving all four people onboard dead instantly.
A rescue official said the impact was so severe that none of the passengers survived, and their bodies were recovered after cutting the wreckage of the vehicle.
"The victims were returning to their home in Bhakkar from the provincial capital Lahore after a medical check-up of one of the deceased," the official added.
The crash caused panic among nearby residents and passersby, while traffic on the busy road remained disrupted until rescue teams cleared the wreckage.
The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, and police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. ■
