BERLIN, Oct.5 (Xinhua) -- With a mischievous smile, Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich put some light-hearted pressure on Luis Diaz.

"I expect a top performance; I expect him to go for it with the beer mug," said the 30-year-old German international after the Bavarians opened their 2025-26 season with 10 consecutive victories, following a 3-0 win in Frankfurt.

While the 28-year-old Colombian winger had already made headlines as "Man of the Match" by scoring twice and providing an assist, Kimmich, seemingly amused, reminded everyone that it takes more than just goals to embody the Bavarian spirit.

As if the early lead in Frankfurt after 15 seconds, the assist for Kane's 2-0, and his own third goal weren't enough to thrill his new club, Kimmich referred to the ultimate challenge for new arrivals - the team's traditional visit to Oktoberfest this Sunday.

Under the watch of TV cameras and media outlets capturing every move, Bayern's visit to the festival, featuring players in Bavarian costumes and leather shorts, remains one of the season's highlights.

In brief, the former Liverpool winger - who joined Bayern for a reported 75 million euros this summer - passed the "beer exam" with distinction, lifting the so-called Mass (one liter of beer) with ease.

While Diaz listened closely to instructions from Bayern staff, the 66-time capped player seems to need no advice when it comes to his performances on the pitch.

Six goals and four assists already tell the story of a smooth integration that has surprised observers in both Germany and England, particularly given Liverpool's current struggles.

"I haven't seen many players accustomed to that fast. Yes, today we must talk about Lucho," Kimmich said.

The midfielder also highlighted Diaz's impact on and off the field. "His sportive value is exorbitant as well as his being an enrichment in the locker room."

Coach Vincent Kompany praised the South American's influence, saying it has lifted the entire squad. "We talk about his first season, we talk about his first steps in a foreign country," the former Manchester City defender added.

After replacing Leroy Sane, who moved to Galatasaray, Diaz's transfer was initially viewed as expensive and uncertain.

"He has been on the carpet right from the start," said Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl. "I am impressed by his team spirit; he not only scores and delivers assists but also addresses defending issues."

Relying on his sharp instincts, Diaz has completed Bayern's attacking line alongside France's Michael Olise, England captain Harry Kane, and Serge Gnabry.

"He certainly has a nose for where the ball is heading," Kimmich said.
