BUCHAREST, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Romania's National Meteorological Administration (ANM) on Thursday issued a Red Code alert, the highest warning level, for heavy rainfall in Dolj and Olt counties, effective from Thursday evening until Friday night.

Meteorologists warned that the affected areas could receive up to 100 to 110 liters of rain per square meter during the period.

A broader special weather advisory, in effect from Thursday morning until Saturday, also warns of very cold temperatures, heavy rain, strong winds, and blizzard conditions above 1,500 meters.

In addition, an Orange Code alert for heavy snow has been issued for mountain areas in central and southwestern Romania. By Friday night, these regions are expected to receive 30 to 50 centimeters of snow, with blizzard-like winds of 70 to 80 km per hour.

A Yellow Code alert is also in effect for the eastern Southern Carpathians and the Curvature Carpathians above 1,500 meters, where blizzards and winds of 50 to 70 km per hour could bring 10 to 30 centimeters of snow by Friday evening.
