ISLAMABAD, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Tuesday named an 18-member squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa starting next month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement that the two-match Test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.

Captain Shan Masood will continue to lead the side, while three uncapped players, including Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram and Rohail Nazir, have been included in the initial squad.

South Africa, the reigning champions of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, will play the 1st Test at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on October 12, followed by the 2nd match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium starting from October 20.

Following the Tests, both teams will compete in three T20 internationals and three one-day internationals between October 28 and November 8, according to the PCB.

The selected players will attend a pre-series training camp under red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood and National Cricket Academy coaches before the series.
