KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's mean monthly salaries and wages increased by 6.1 percent year on year to 3,652 ringgit (867 U.S. dollars) in 2024, official data showed Monday.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement the growth was reflecting favourable economic and healthy labor conditions.
According to the DOSM, the median monthly salaries and wages for Malaysian citizens also rose to 2,793 ringgit, up from 2,602 ringgit in 2023.
"These gains demonstrated the effectiveness of various economic empowerment initiatives in enhancing the quality of life for Malaysia's workforce," the DOSM notes. (1 ringgit equals 0.24 U.S. dollar) ■
