URUMQI, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Karakoram Highway is one of the highest paved roads in the world. Along the road stands the Mustag Peak, known as the "Father of Icebergs", and lies the charming Basha Lake with its rippling waters. From Kashgar, the northern starting point of the Karakoram Highway, to the Khunjerab Pass, a land port on the China-Pakistan border, people who travel along this road affectionately call it the China-Pakistan Friendship Road.
