HANOI, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A China-Vietnam Mid-Autumn Festival Gala has kicked off in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, bringing together artists and performing troupes from the two nations on the same stage to celebrate the approaching festival.

As one of the major celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the event held Thursday night provided an important platform for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

The gala featured four chapters, blending singing, Tai Chi, traditional instrumental performances, and traditional and modern dance from both sides.

Cai Xiangrong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee, said China and Vietnam are neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, and Yunnan serves as an important bridge and frontier for bilateral cultural and economic exchanges. He noted that this cross-border artistic dialogue demonstrated the friendship of good neighbors and allowed people from both countries to share the joy of reunion under one moon.

Tran Nhat Hoang, deputy director of the International Cooperation Department under Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, addressed the gala, saying that the shared culture and close bonds between Vietnam and China are like the bright moon of Mid-Autumn, illuminating the broad path of bilateral cooperation.

The gala was hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, and undertaken by Yunnan Media Group and the Chinese Culture Center in Hanoi.
