MOSCOW, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Consulate General in Irkutsk has confirmed that a Chinese national was killed in a mine collapse that occurred in Russia's Tuva Republic on Wednesday.
The Consulate General stated that it had learned about the incident immediately after it occurred, confirmed the death of the Chinese citizen, and will assist in handling follow-up matters. It also urged the relevant enterprise to enhance work safety measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Earlier, local media reported that in the early morning on Wednesday, a mine in the Tuva Republic, located in south-central Russia, collapsed, resulting in the death of a Chinese citizen. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. ■
