COLOMBO, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has identified 54 locations across the country to establish recycling centers under the "Clean Sri Lanka" initiative, the President's Media Division (PMD) said Wednesday.
According to the PMD, six sites in each of the nine provinces have been selected, with feasibility studies already completed at 25 of them. The centers will be equipped to convert solid waste into reusable materials.
The project aims to cut the volume of waste sent to sanitary landfills by 30 percent within the next three years, the PMD said. ■
