TOKYO, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Japan is likely to see a sudden drop in temperatures from late fall into early winter, with the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) predicting lower temperatures in December due to cold air masses.
The JMA released its three-month forecast on Monday, highlighting that December is expected to be roughly normal in northern Japan, whereas average or lower temperatures are predicted across the rest of the country.
According to the forecast, warmer temperatures are expected in October and November across the country.
Temperatures during the winter, which the JMA defines as the period between December and February, are expected to be normal nationwide.
The agency also predicts heavier rainfall in October in western Japan and on the Pacific coast of eastern Japan.
Regarding snowfall, areas along the Sea of Japan in western Japan could see average to above-average snowfall and in eastern and northern Japan roughly average. ■
